NASSCOMM, in a study, revealed that India is leading in the global knowledge services market with the availability of a huge talent pool. The market has grown from a negligible base 10 years ago to an expected $7.9 Billion back in 2015 but it did not. Knowledge services industry is estimated to employ around 70,000 people across the country. Business research and data analytics are the key components that have been driving the growth of this market. This full-fledged industry brings in its own innate dynamics and distinction along with the dominant players who drive the market and set the bench mark for the industry.

One such key player is SBL, an established company in this domain with a long standing clientele across industry verticals. Operating from Cochin, SBL is redefining the market in a way that organisations would want to embed these services within their central systems and processes. The CEO & Managing Director of SBL, Gopakumar Pillai delineates, “We plan to realize this vision by continuing to collaborate, innovate and developing partnership with new and existing clients alike. We aim to stay proactive with ongoing research and development, acquiring cutting edge technology, and building the right teams, year on year, to deliver information rich services that add value to our clients and its own operations”.

SBL is well positioned in the market with several large, over-lapping divisions under a multi-disciplinary structure. This enables teams at SBL to plan, execute and deliver comprehensive end-to-end solutions through a mixture of collaboration, innovation and knowledge transfer. While each division brings its own area of specialist expertise, skills and quality assurance, these contributions are then fed into a much larger, joined-up approach. Thus clients are benefitted from the knowledge and expertise throughout the whole project life cycle rather than simply executing.

Solutions driven by information
The era of smart apps and devices is here. Location has become so essential to most services that it is now inconceivable for an organisation to ignore the importance and the value of location intelligence. Geographic data has now evolved into a vital business management tool that must be embedded within centralised systems and processes. SBL exhibits unmatched competency in this arena. They are already catering to a number of small and large businesses driven by geospatial data. SBL’s Geospatial division is able to draw on the skills of the other divisions such as Software and Business Process Management to provide clients with fully operational and end-to -end solutions. SBL holds expertise over location-based information, high definition survey-DGPS, LiDAR, Drone, Airborne, GIS & ICT based Urban & Infrastructure Planning for the Smart Cities, Mobile Sensors & Mapping, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics etc. SBL is well equipped to provide solutions for urban planning, infrastructure planning & development, land management, administration & tax mapping, environment, utilities and communication, power, oil & gas, assets management, railway metro network & assets, construction, municipalities, transport management, military, security through geospatial & integrated ICT solutions.

Bridging the gap between governments and citizens
SBL extends their services for Governance with e-Governance solutions. The technical architecture of the solutions has been designed with flexibility to allow business components to be added in the future without disrupting the system. SBL is well aware that e-Governance solutions can become responsive only when meaningful interactions happen with the citizens. SBL’s e-Governance solutions take it to the next level by the use of intelligent analytics and feedback. The analytics and feedback module tracks the various citizen interactions with the e-Governance solution, analyzes the patterns of interactions, and provides various channels to the citizens for interacting with the government, such as email and feedback forms. The module also poses relevant questions to the citizens to capture service preferences.

eParliament is another field which SBL is ameliorating with their solutions. The company has developed a state of the art e-Governance solution for the end-to-end functioning of Parliament and Legislative assemblies. The solution was developed using the open source technology stack and is flexible enough to be implemented at Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies with minimal changes. As a result of this implementation, Parliament and Legislative assemblies were able to get the ROI within the first year itself. With a significant reduction of up to 80% in paper consumption, they were able to improve efficiency of the Parliament and Legislative process to a larger extent. This innovative solution enhances collaboration between the members of the house, parliament & legislative officials, various departments, the general public and media. By keeping the overheads deployment to a minimum, it improves the assembly activities with reduced redundant processes. Keeping the users’ experience in mind, the solution is enriched using responsive web UI, touch based computer systems inside the Parliament and Legislative Assembly and mobile applications.

Boosting government’s initiatives
SBL is very optimistic about the Digital India initiative which is opening up to a whole lot of opportunities. Schemes like e-governance, e-Kranti and ‘Information for all’ are expected to result in a demand for Business Process Management. SBL sees a scope for non-voice services that include management of income taxes, maintenance of voter IDs, registration of companies, digitization of land records, birth and death certificates, driving licenses, etc. which requires scanning, digitization and data entry. SBL has been servicing the government of India for many projects and have also proved its skills working with the government in the United Kingdom and many private and public organizations across the world. They have in-house experts from across the globe capable of transcribing handwritten styles even from the 15th century. Their skills in transcribing Swedish, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Latin etc. make them the biggest non-English transcribing BPM provider to efficiently deliver output with 99 percent accuracy.

Formulating success
By being customer centric, SBL’s solutions enable the clients to accelerate productivity. With the hunger to excel they continue to explore opportunities within the growing market. SBL is already delivering projects for a number of blue-chip companies across the world. Coupled with global ISO Accreditations, this know-how-to and the experience places them well to hit the ground running when engaged by new clients. Operating under a well-established QC and QA standards, SBL ensures best practice. This stable base gives them capacity to spend concerted time on R&D with customers and partners. This is probably why clients see SBL as a Strategic Partner rather than as a service provider. SBL’s current focus locations are USA, UK & Europe, Middle East and India. Envisioning the future Gopakumar says, “We have an urge to excel and always stay ahead to tap into the growing market opportunities. With an experienced team having hands on experience in completing billions of records over a short span of time, we believe we lead our competitors and surpass the customer expectations by leveraging budgets.”
